The article investigates folklore materials that were recorded at the beginning of the 21 st century from the Russian population of the settlement of Kazhym which was founded in Komi Republic as a result of the development of ironworks in the middle of the 18th century. The author analyzes the data connected with the festive culture of the local tradition, in particular, celebration of Saint Nicholas’ Day. Systemization of data made possible to show the dynamics of celebration of this day, the forms of the existence of this holiday in the second part of 20th century and mechanisms of its revitalization in the beginning of 21st century, ways and conditions of honoring the village sacred object. The materials give the possibility to describe efforts of the local population, the Orthodox community and rural administration which aimed at the reconstruction of this day as a patronal festival (saint's day).
