The study was conducted as part of the program of scientific research related to the study of the ethnocultural diversity of Russian society aimed at strengthening all-Russian identity in 2023–2025 (led by Academician V. A. Tishkov) within the framework of the project “The Intangible Ethnocultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation as a Resource for Preserving Diversity and Forming Russian Identity.”
In connection with the adoption of the Federal Law “On Intangible Ethno-Cultural Heritage of the Russian Federation,” the interaction between scholars and cultural workers has become particularly important not only for identifying and studying objects of ethno-cultural heritage, but also in the ways they are used, their preservation and popularization. There are many ways of working with the Russian fairy-tale heritage, including the publication of fairytale collections and cultural and educational projects. The latter also include popular lectures, festivals dedicated to fairy-tales and storytellers, podcasts, performances of folk tale performers, the publication of folk tales on CDs. Unfortunately, in most cases, at present we observe either scholarly work related to the publication of field archival materials, the analysis of the fairy-tale tradition of a particular region or the creative heritage of specific storytellers, or, on the contrary, we see projects of a festival nature, which are carried out by specialists of cultural and leisure institutions. In this paper, we will consider these two areas in the field of fairy-tales on the example of Pskov, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Ulyanovsk regions, the Republic of Karelia and other regions of Russia, and also focus on the unique experience of the Perm region which is the result of joint work by representatives of academia and of culture.
